First off, great and copious thanks to Jason R. for compiling 99% of this list and the links during my February hiatus. “Next man up!” applies to MFBL I guess.
And also Jason, sorry to inform you in this very public and judicially efficient way, but by compiling said list you have officially become the “Next man up”.
Should I ever become disillusioned with my commissioneering duties and/or fall in the line of duty or be deemed missing and presumed intentionally missing, all this will be yours! Everything you see, from the Memorialite Ballot to the Congratulatory End-Of-Year email will be yours to rule and either grow and cultivate or crush in your iron grip!
But also, you get to appoint who’s Next Up After You, so if you’re “up”, but you’re really not “up” for being “up”, right then, you can happily just tell the NEXT next man up that they’re actually up! We call it the Next Man Up’s Prerogative. No one should be forced to be up if they’re not up for it! (Except the last man up!)
It’s really a failsafe system!
Ok, anyway – unfortunately for all of you, I’m still UP though, so the rambling stream of conscious directives will still be an obstacle that all owners will continue to have to clear in order to get to any actual information. But, it’s coming….I think I see some coming up right down there! 🡻
OK – RULES FOR VOTING – The final ten thing I think worked good last year and means I don’t have to change much of the rest of this post – except for the actual nominees so, let’s go with that!
SAME PROCESS AS LAST YEAR
- EACH OWNER SUBMITS A LIST OF THEIR 10 CHOICES FOR MEMORIALITE. LIST NEED BE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER BY 3/15/2024.
- THE TEN NOMINEES APPEARING ON THE MOST LISTS ON 3/15/2024 WILL THEN BE RANKED BY EACH OWNER AND THE CONDORCET METHOD APPLIED TO THOSE RANKINGS TO DETERMINE WHO THE 2024 MEMORIALITE WILL BE!
And if anyone unremembers how CONDORCET works – here’s the handy instructions again. (so lazy!)
- You’ll get an email with a link to your personal online “voting booth”. (Hopefully that website is still up….yes, it appears to still be functioning)
- You’ll rank all the nominees from 10, being the Memorialitiest, to 1, being the least Memorialitey, but comparatively still pretty memorialitey, being in the top ten and all!!!
- After everyone has voted the site will employ fairness and math to determine who won!! There’s some kind of method that I only half understand, but it sounds like voting enthusiasts have given it their seal of approval. (If you’re interested here’s an explanation: https://civs.cs.cornell.edu/rp.html) CONDORCET METHOD! The Marquis De Condorcet wouldn’t steer us wrong!
