2022 MINOR LEAGUE ELIGIBLES

DISCLAIMER: So, as you all know, you cannot put a guy on your minor league roster (even if he’s eligible to be put there due to service time and rookie status IF he appeared on your roster in any capacity other than the minor league roster (IR, ACTIVE or BENCH).

Because CBS dispenses with our full transaction report from the previous year, and I neglected to save it as an excel file at the end of the regular season last year, I had to try and determine the players ineligible to be placed on each particular teams roster using the ADD/DROP record from last year. I got mine right because I remember mine, but I’m sure I missed a few on other rosters so for this year, the HONOR SYSTEM shall be employed.

The official MINOR LEAGUE ELIGIBILITY RULES are below the chart:

And, as if it needs saying, LET ME KNOW IF YOU SEE ANY ERRORS!

The service time determinations are made via the Baseball Reference website if you want to double check.

MINOR LEAGUES

Each team has five (5) MINOR LEAGUE roster slots.  To be eligible for placement on the MINOR LEAGUE ROSTER a player must have,

A: NOT exhausted his MLB ROOKIE status, OR

B: Exhausted his rookie status in the previous season and be saved as a MINOR LEAGUE roster save prior to the preseason draft

The MINOR LEAGUE DRAFT will be held on the THIRD Sunday of May during the regular season.  Only those teams with FEES PAID shall be eligible to participate.  The draft will proceed in reverse order of the adjusted standings as of the THIRD Saturday of May.

Each owner, in turn will claim rookies and/or minor league prospects up to a total of FIVE.  The players on a teams Minor League roster will remain there until they are either dropped, moved to the Major League Roster (either Active, Bench or Injured) or lose they their rookie status.  Once a player appears on the Major League roster of a team he is no longer eligible to be placed on the Minor League roster of THAT TEAM for the duration of the current season.

DURATION OF THE SEASON, FOR PURPOSES OF DETERMINING MINOR LEAGUE ELIGIBILITY SHALL BE DEFINED AS OPENING DAY TO OPENING DAY, THEREFORE THE 2006 SEASON ENDS THE MOMENT THE 2007 SEASON BEGINS.

All players on a Minor League roster at the end of the regular season shall be retained by that owner automatically for the following season. A player who has spent his rookie season (exhausted his rookie eligibility) on a teams Minor League Roster will not be eligible to remain on the Minor League Roster past the following season’s MINOR LEAGUE DRAFT date.
